Business owners and employees of the firm are concerned about the firm relocating from Stamford where it is considered to have the largest number of employees. Business owners are worried because the relocation of UBS could mean loss of business. Most of the businesses rely heavily on the presence of the company in the area. On the other hand, employees are worried because the relocation of UBS to New York means that they would be payi ng more for transport to their place of work. However, UBS had made the decision to move to Manhattan because the city had a lot of young talent that could work for the organization. This would see UBS employees moving to the city to secure employment. The observations made are consistent with the Alonso model to the extent that majority of job seekers prefer working in the city as opposed to suburbs. Employers on the other hand consider locating their business in the city because they expect to maximize profits despite incurring high costs of rent.
